The company and product

CashDeck is a personal wealth management tool, created especially for accountants, financial planners, and mortgage brokers.

It was developed by InvestmentLink, a company that supplies superannuation data to over 10,000 Financial Planners and their 4.4 million members across Australia and New Zealand.

The web application enables owners of financial products to view all of their decentralized assets such as bank accounts, loans, mortgages, shares, superannuation, and credit cards in one place.

It enhanced control over assets and improved communication about personal finances with stakeholders. Thanks to the display of financial data across all the relevant investment products, financial advisors are able to make fast, incisive decisions on behalf of their clients.

The Challenge

When Cashdeck approached Monterail with the idea for an application, they were managing accounts for more than 4,4 million members across Australia and New Zealand.

The client identified a need for an easy and fully integrated means of viewing all of their decentralized assets such as bank accounts, loans, mortgages, shares, superannuation, and credit cards.

The Process

The app had to be functional both for financial asset owners and advisors.

More so, it had to be ready for future updates.

We decided to wrap all services in a core UI and extract it to a shared gem so that the upcoming updates for both the dashboard and push services would happen seamlessly and in a coordinated way. For data visualization and illustrating fluctuations, we decided to choose D3.

Core activities included:

Building a user-friendly, intuitive interface with Angular and Rails assets.
Building a Service Oriented Architecture with individual investment services, each with its own specific parameters.
Creating a comprehensive set of push notifications to be delivered with near real-time efficiency and accuracy.
